On the road, a guy in a red jumper stopped her. He was holding his own face under his arm. ‘I found this on the pavement, it was lying there.’ ‘Keep it,’ she said. Behind him, a third man was dragging a plastic bag with a shoe in it. He smiled and asked, ‘Where are we going?’ No one answered.
A face can be carried like an object.
With this performance, lo.me continues its exploration of bodies becoming images, based on perceptual shifts and movements. What seemed familiar splits in two, becomes distorted, freezes or multiplies. The body becomes at once a support, a surface and an obstacle.
Between fiction and reality, the proposed experience seeks less to tell a story than to convey a state of mind: one of confusion, hesitation, a play of contradictory forces in which everyone is invited to find their place.
lo.me is composed of Loren Tschannen (*1996) and Mélissa Biondo (*1994), who have been working together since 2021. They explore the possibilities of becoming image, addressing concepts such as expansion, amplification, repetition, and displacement, primarily through performance and video. Using the body as their primary medium, they create opportunities for storytelling around artifice and fantasy, as well as the mechanisms of alienation and control in which they are both deployed. Bodies progress within established structures and situations to be experienced. It is a game of perception, fault, the unspeakable, and turmoil.
